The Global positioning system, or GPS, is a constellation of U.S. Government satellites providing the most advanced and accurate positioning and navigation service the world has ever known. Equipped with atomic clocks, twenty-four GPS satellites orbit 12,000 miles above the earth, constantly transmitting the precise time and their position in space. Magellans GPS receivers listen to these satellite signals and use the information to determine the location of the receiver, as well as how fast and in what direction it is moving.
Magellan GPS receivers track up to 12 satellites at the same time (an exclusive feature which helps the receiver stay locked on the satellite signals and maintain a position fix even in harsh environments). Now- no matter where in the world they may be - hikers, hunters, backpackers, fishermen, and other outdoor enthusiasts can use a Magellan GPS receiver to find out exactly where they are and how to get where they want to go, any time, in any kind of weather.
(X) Marks the spot.Every point on Earth can be identified by a specific address. That address is shown as tow sets of numbers (also known as coordinates) which represent the precise spot where a horizontal line of latitude crosses a vertical line of longitude. When a GPS receiver reports and records your position, it is showing your latitude/longitude coordinate location, or your address on Earth. This lets you save favorite fishing spots, record game sightings, mark trails, record where you left your truck, note your campsite or save the location of any place you choose.
Magellan Takes You There And Back Again.Once your Magellan GPS receiver has determined where you are, it can steer you anywhere you want to go. The receivers display screen shows you all the information you need to know , and the keys allow you to enter coordinates and activate features.
To guide you to another spot, the receiver compares two latitude/longitude coordinates locations and calculates the direction and distance from one to another. Using the receivers display screen, you simply match your heading (the direction you are actually traveling) with the bearing to your destination (the direction you should be traveling) Or you can just follow the directional arrow. When the arrow on the screen is straight up, you know you are on course to your destination. It is as simple as that.
You Guide To Adventure. With a Magellan GPS satellite navigator you will always know where you are and where you are going. You can record your location, and return to that spot time and again. You can use the latitude/longitude coordinates of a location you have never been to before, and your Magellan GPS will guide you right to it. In fog, snow or darkness, anywhere in the world, any time of day, Magellan GPS gives you the freedom to explore the great Outdoors with confidence.
